Characterized by those around her as a breath of fresh air, Janise Sherwin first began her career in asset recovery and finance in the US. From commercial, legal, and contract recovery management to running a multi-level finance division, she was an expert in identifying, pursuing, and implementing only the most credible, functional, and unexpected solutions to finance and recovery obstacles. She describes this first phase of her professional career as the ‘primer’ for her true calling as an educator, career and university guide, trainer, and operations development consultant. “Life has its own plans for you…just be ready!” Her motto only reflects her determined and adventurous nature as she shifted from running a chaotic US-based finance department to running her own test preparation, language learning, career counseling, university consulting, and professional training center in Jakarta, Indonesia: Prodigy Learning.

There, her true talent for mentoring, monitoring, and supporting others was showcased. Her ability to recruit, instruct, and manage a large domestic and foreign staff while remaining steadfast to her student-focused, quality-driven, and creativity-infused principles earned her high visibility in the education, training,  and consulting market. She’s partnered with several international schools throughout Southeast Asia to provide training on career pathway counseling as well as helping countless teens and adults to identify and prepare for career tracks best suited to their talents, personalities, and goals. Likewise, she works with  with several law firms, retail conglomerates, and international schools throughout Southeast Asia to provide training and operations consultancy.

High fives, fist bumps, and pats on the back—those are Janise’s tactics of choice when it comes to creating the open, communicative atmosphere she’s revered for. She embraces the notion that serious business doesn’t need always be so serious! Hence, her type of management style garners loyalty, respect, and a communal sense of accomplishment. While her amiable, approachable disposition may infer a relaxed sense of urgency and accountability, don’t be fooled. She is fiercely detail-oriented and doggedly dedicated to enforcing an uncompromising level of expectation to bring out the best in herself and all those around her.

She creates an inclusive working environment of collaboration, transparency, support, and shared leadership among all constituency groups. She crafts, oversees, coordinates, prioritizes, and assesses continuing professional developing training and support programs for staff, clients, students, and others while serving as a key resource for internal and external operations. As a distinguished written and verbal communicator with sincere listening skills, she brings her tact, patience, and courtesy to the table as she liaises with all stakeholders in productive problem solving, rapport building, and procedure maneuvering.

With the onset and aftermath of COVID-19, she’s completely overhauled and adapted delivery of services, extending her reach far beyond Asia. Now, her passion extends to publishing, pooling together both her own knowledge and the knowledge of other proven experts within Prodigy’s network.
